Apple and Google maps are independent - you can have one part of the route displayed on an Apple Map and (say) a satellite map of another part of the route displayed on a Google Map. (Google bike trails also available.)

Open Street Maps

You can overlay Open Street Maps.

LINZ offline map

You can also overlay LINZ maps. These are not high resolution maps, but they are available offline. (Only required map tiles are supplied.)
